It is best to have a .com as it is most likely remembered by visitors but if you can not find any on .com then try .org or .net and if still you cant find any add spaces between the words of the keywords. So you found one, now what?
Go to a hosting company and order a hosting account. If your site is small something assumable then go for the smallest hosting plan, it will cost you about $5 a month or less. Setup your hosting account with your new domain and write somewhere down the login information and ftp adress – Go to cuteftp.com and download the free software or to smartftp.com (it costs but is worth it) where you can upload your files to your site.
You now have a domain, a hosting company and your written content. You now need to setup your website with images and the content you have – If you know how to create a website then go for it, if not you may have to contact companies that can make a website with the content you have – This may cost about $500 – $2000.
How to advertise your website
There are many ways to advertise your site. First of all you may consider buying for clicks on big search engines like google – This because it takes some time before your site gets indexed on search engines the first time, if you have a high competitive keyword you have optimized your site for then it may take as long as 6 months until your site shows up for that keyword, so by buying for clicks on for example google adwords you will be able to get some visitors and sales until then.
You can advertise as well offline by creating posters with an image, some description and your web url – This needs an understanding of your clients so that you can add the posters where they will most likely be seen and used.
You can advertise on facebook, if you have many friends you should make a page (make a page – see bottom on facebook for this after login) for your website and send the page to your friends. For a website to become famous by word of mouth it needs to be original and the content needs to be good.
Also, posting on forums might add some traffic to your site but note that by just creating a post on forums of the same niche as your site with your link to it might get you banned or at least have your post removed, its better to join a conversation and add your site from there as it looks less spammy.

Your content should have the keywords you want to rank for on search engines divided amongst your articles. Not too much though as it can result to lower search engine rankings. You should have a meta tag where you add your title, description and keywords for your site, all these must match with the content. When you have finished your sites optimization then you need to exchange links from other websites in order for your site to increase page rank and thereby rankings.
